Is it better that a Guilty man/woman be set free from prison, or 10 innocent men/woman go to jail?

Answer the question and tell me why. Support your reasoning. What would be the “greatest good” for the greatest number of people? For me, I’m not sure what would be better. I just want to see the opinions of others.

Ok, so, you don’t know what the person was sent to jail for. That is the whole question. The person could’ve been sent to jail for a minor offense, or he/she could’ve been a mass murderer.

What if you – or your family – were the 10 innocent people in jail – would that be okay with you? So it would be alright to incarcerate 100 of your innocent family members and friends so that 10 guilty people will be punished? OR – 1000 for 100, or 10,000 for 1,000, or 100,000 for 10,000 (etc) Are you nuts? This is all very simple – which is right?
