How do I keep my cat from running back to our old house?

We moved only 2 blocks from our old home. When we moved we kept our cat in side for over a month. She is an outdoor cat only so this was difficult. We thought this was long enough but she returned back to our old home. Luckily the new owners are cat lovers and have been very helpful. This process of keeping her in and then retrieving her has gone on for about 5 or 6 times. We have done many of the suggestions such as the harness and leash, putting butter on her paws so she will lick them and only feeding her outside so she knows that where she is supposed to eat.
My husband and I want the best for her, but she is not happy in our new home. I do not want to bother the new owners anymore, and need some help. We are seriously thinking of putting her up for adoption or find her a new home ourselves. She is very depressed, and I am at a loss for what to do. please help.
